If you are over 65 or in an at risk group you are eligible for a FREE flu jab. As a practice we will be running the flu clinics as soon as the vaccine is available.
Later in the year, the flu vaccine may be given to people aged 50 to 64. More information will be available later in the autumn.
We will be contacting eligible patients by text when slots are available to book.
You are at risk if you;
• Are pregnant
• Have a long term health condition i.e. diabetes, COPD, chronic heart disease
• Have a learning disability
• Are the main carer for someone who is at risk of Covid-19, or whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill
For more information on the flu vaccine please go to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/
Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.
Please also be aware that practices in Erewash unfortunately do not receive the flu vaccines at the same time. This means you may get your flu vaccine at a different time to other people in your area, e.g. if your neighbour is registered at a different practice and they get the flu vaccine at a different time to you. It is useful to note that the ‘over 65’s’ vaccine is different to the ‘at risk’ vaccine for under 65’s, and they are delivered separately. This has an impact on when different age groups can get the vaccine. We apologise for this and we are working together as local practices to try and co-ordinate this in future years.
